The Human Rights Film Festival Umeå is a two-day event dedicated to exploring urgent human rights issues through the lens of cinema. With a curated selection of impactful documentaries, panel discussions, and community dialogues, the festival provides a powerful platform for awareness, reflection, and action.

 Day 1 focuses on gender-based violence, highlighting personal and collective struggles for justice across different contexts.
 Day 2 turns to environmental justice, sustainability, and the intersection of climate and human rights, amplifying voices from both the Global South and North.

 Free and open to all, the festival is rooted in the belief that human rights should not only be protected by law—but also lived, shared, and made visible through culture.

Organized in collaboration with local and international partners, ranging from legal experts and activists to artists and community organizers—the festival invites solidarity through cinema and dialogue.
